Counseling & Psychotherapy

can help you live a happier life!

What is Counseling? What is Psychotherapy?

The type of approach that would be best for you depends on what you would like to accomplish. If you want to treat specific problems rather than uncover deeper feelings and issues, Counseling might be best. If you are interested in making changes to the way you think and feel, along with solving problems, Psychotherapy might be best.

Counseling is a short-term, focused approach to solving problems. Your counselor works with you to help clarify your situation, set realistic goals, and develop problem solving, coping, and interpersonal skills. Counseling is most appropriate for you if you are looking for a shorter-term, action-oriented approach to help find concrete solutions to specific problems.

David can help you work toward resolving your identified issues and problems.

Psychotherapy, on the other hand, is a longer-term, more in-depth approach. Instead of simply solving identified problems, Psychotherapy will also look behind these problems, and focus on your feelings and beliefs about them. Psychotherapy is a process which can help you gain knowledge about your inner thoughts, feelings and beliefs – “what makes you tick.”

The Psychotherapy process is focused on helping you know more about yourself, and learn constructive ways to deal with your feelings and reactions. This knowledge can ultimately help you heal, feel more in control of your life, and live in a way which feels much more fulfilling and meaningful. Psychotherapy is most appropriate for you if you want to explore your issues on a deeper level.

David can help guide you through your process, in a safe environment, respecting your unique needs.
